Tom Salzburg was diagnosed with Bulbar Onset ALS on August 8 2019 - his 54th Birthday. Since his diagnosis Tom has declined rapidly. He loved his job as a Machinist/Welder and had been a drummer in multiple bands for over 40 years and could be found onstage with one of his many bands nearly every weekend until ALS robbed him of his ability to perform in October 2019. Tom was also a hockey goalie and an avid Harley Rider until ALS took that from him as well..
He was a strong, agile and healthy man until ALS robbed him of everything he loves - including the ability to hug his wife, kids and grandson.
While Tom lost the ability to do the things he loves - his spirit and will remained strong as his body became frail until the very end.
Sadly, Tom lost his battle with ALS on Monday, May 11, 2020.
Tom did not fight this alone - together we are SALZBURG STRONG! Tom's wish was to help find a cure so no one else would have to suffer as he did. His family continues to honor his wish by raising funds for ALS Foundations and ALS Research. Tom will never be forgotten and we miss him every single day.
Please join our team to walk and raise money to support ALS and help find a cure as Tom wanted!
**Due to the current social distancing rules with large gatherings the ALS Association has directed each team to form their own personalized walk in a location of their choice.
You may walk alone, on a treadmill, with your family in a location of your choice or join our team at 9:30am at our house.
Salzburg Strong Tees will be available for sale (limited sizes and quantities) and BARCRAWL Tees will be avail for pickup as well!
We anticipate departing at 10am for a 1 mile walk thru our neighborhood and returning to our house.
Wear your Salzburg Strong or Bar Crawl t-shirt - EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO GO FACEBOOK LIVE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
We hope to see you on June 5th! We will grill some lunch upon our return to the house! Pool is open!
Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.

ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
