A Message from Dave Rhoades, Chief Nuclear Officer, President Exelon Nuclear:
Please join Team Exelon to support the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease. For a second year, The Walk to Defeat ALS will take place across Chicagoland in Mini-Walk form. This means you can participate from wherever you are located...no need to travel to Wheaton!
We are committed to raising $100,000 as a team across the Greater Chicago Region and need your help to achieve this. As a fun bonus, we have exciting prizes that you can enter to win through your support of Team Exelon in the Walk to Defeat ALS. Team members will also receive a Team Exelon t-shirt upon registering at one of our participating sites.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining Team Exelon in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause. For those of you who cannot attend the Walk, I encourage you to join Team Exelon as a Virtual Walker. Learn more about the Walk to Defeat ALS and mission of The ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter at web.alsachicago.org.
I am privileged to serve as The ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter's Corporate Recruitment Chair. Exelon was the chapter's first Walk to Defeat ALS partner- a relationship that has continued and we hope will grow significantly in the future. It is my desire to bring partners alongside to move the chapter into their second decade of greatness in serving the ALS community.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join Team Exelon today.
