As some of you know, my step-father, Ron Lindskog, passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), seven years ago this May. Ron, with my mother Joan by his side, fought a courageous battle with this terrible disease. In Ron's memory and in my mom's honor we will continue to walk to support those who have been diagnosed with ALS and their caregivers who know all to well the personal and financial toll of ALS.
Your donation will allow the ALS Association to support research to find a cure, care services for ALS patients and caregivers, and advocacy in Washington to continue federal funding for research and to support veterans like Ron who are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ALS as the general population.
Why is the team name Ron's Piglets? Ron retired from the Oak Lawn Police Department. When he started with the department way back in 1969 a not so kind name for a police officer was a pig. Ron, being Ron, embraced the term by putting pigs around his office and home. We felt it appropriate then to call ourselves Ron's Piglets!
So please consider coming out and joining the walk or donating!
Thank you and much love to all of you:
Dan
